“Does eharmony work?” Come on, admit it. You know you’ve probably wondered it, too. You’ve seen the commercials and ads of above-average looking men and women wrapped in each other’s arms. You’ve rolled your eyes at the love birds, wondered if they’re real people in real life, all the while questioning, “Does eharmony really work?”

Personally, we have lots of friends who met specifically through eharmony. We’ve been to their weddings—heck, we’ve been IN their weddings. So, if you’re wondering, “Is eharmony good?” We can testify that the answer is: yes.
But back to the original question, “Does eharmony work?”
Just like any of the other sites we evaluated in our review of the Best Christian Dating Sites, it is what you make of it. It does work for people. Will it work for you? No one knows that but the Good Lord above. There’s a whole lot more involved in answering that question than a “yes” or a “no.” Things like God’s sovereignty and timing and, you know, love.
If you’re expecting to sign up and then your Prince/Princess will be delivered to your door with little effort on your part, then no, you will not find eharmony to be worth it.
However, if you decide to put aside your preconceived notions of online dating and choose to view your experience as a fun tool for meeting new people and learning more about yourself and dating, then you might find yourself actually enjoying it. Are there ways to improve your eharmony experience? Of course. Here are a few:
1. Make sure you have a decent profile picture (or two or three or four).
Attention, world: Stop taking selfies, especially selfies while you’re standing shirtless in front of a mirror or sitting in the front seat of your car. And chill with the Instagram filters. Instagram can make anything look enticing. Just take some honest photos and let your matches see the real you.
Have a friend look over your profile to ensure it really reflects you. Not a “you” that you’d like to project, but the real you. Are you coming across as the depressed and odd cat lady or a weird and lonely creeper? (But honestly, if either one of those profiles do fit you, “Does eharmony work?” is not the question you should be asking.) Friends don’t let friends post stuff like that on their online dating profiles, so let a friend proofread your profile before it goes live.
2. Go on dates. Seriously.
Lots of people are just too scared to actually meet someone they’ve never seen. The first few times can be a little nerve wracking, but you get used to it after a while. Guys, listen to a girl, use creativity, and plan fun dates that you’d enjoy with anyone. Girls, be generous with your compliments, show appreciation, and be honest with your feelings. Both of you need to enter the date with an open mind towards getting to know another person. Don’t put so much pressure on finding love—it’ll happen when it happens.
The only sure fire way to answer the question, “Does eharmony work?” is to try it out. Until you do, it remains just a topic of conversation.
